WOMEN IN PAINTING

Welcome to Women in Painting, Australia – an initiative of Aussie Painters Network.
Women in Painting is a community of like-minded people who see the unique benefits of gender diversity & equity in the workplace. We acknowledge the valuable contribution of women in trades and understand what a crucial role women play in our industry’s future and in solving the current skills shortages. 

Women in Painting seeks to unify the women working in the Painting & Decorating Industry in Australia, to align with female representation established in other sectors of the construction industry – within which, notably, Painting is among the trades leading the way for female participation. Women have, in recent years, been fast gaining a reputation for excelling in Painting, known for superior attention to detail, patience, creativity professionalism and great customer relationships! 

Transforming the Painting and Decorating Industry

Across the Construction industry in Australia, women make up barely 3% of tradespeople. Aussie Painters Network is proud of the fact that 30% of our painting apprentices are women! So, we feel that it is fitting that we would begin this initiative, representing those that are leading the way in increasing female participation in construction.

Honouring Tradeswomen and Unsung Heroines

For too long, the contributions of women in our field have gone unrecognised. This initiative aims to change that narrative by highlighting the talent, dedication, and creativity of women painters and support staff across Australia, and giving them a voice and a platform for ideas. We are committed to creating an inclusive and empowering environment where women can thrive, share their experiences, and inspire the next generation of female painters and business owners.

Women in Painting is also strongly committed to acknowledging and engaging the women working off the tools in our industry. The women behind the scenes ensuring businesses run successfully; the women running the office and books of small businesses, supporting a partner out on the brush and their family at home. These industry players are equally entitled to representation, celebration and community.

 

Building Community

This initiative is free of charge to participants and open to women, nonbinary peoples and allies in the industry across Australia, regardless of where you undertake your training, who your Australian Apprenticeship Support Service is, or whether you’re on the tools, or doing the accounts. 

We wish to provide an inclusive platform for women to connect with peers, industry mentors and stakeholders, showcase their work, create their unique brand, and access resources that will help them excel in their careers. Through our online community, social media group, networking events, individual support and referrals, we foster a community that values diversity, equality, and professional growth.
